The Gap

gap

  1. a break or hole in an object or between two objects.

• a pass or way through.

2. an unfilled space or interval; a break in continuity.

• a difference - especially an undesirable one between

two views or situations.

When we take the time to look intently at the world around us, we find -

gaps between other people and us

gaps in employment

gaps in age

gaps in income

gaps in healthcare

gaps in equality

gaps in relationships

gaps in education

gaps in understanding

gaps in compassion

gaps in communication

gaps in cultures

gaps in languages

gaps in dreams

gaps in perspectives

gaps in expectations

gaps in justice

gaps in respect

gaps in faith

gaps in love

gaps in action

gaps in who we are and who we want to be

and the list goes on.

Unfulfilled spaces incite emotions, feelings, and actions -

guilt

fear

doubt

anger

grief

anguish

loneliness

inspiration

disappointment

hopelessness

awareness

worthlessness

love

patience

investment

unbelief

faith

hope

determination

resolve

acceptance

hardness of heart

defeat

passion

regret

opportunity

pursuit

silence

and the list goes on.

In the unfilled spaces, where emotions exist, we find people. We find each other. We find us. We all have unfilled spaces. But, it’s in the us where conversations transpire, action occurs, encouragement is found, and hearts are healed.
